Quick tips to get the absolute best taste and texture from your FitBake frosting.
Make sure your frosting is at room temperature before use. Cold frosting = rock hard. Hot frosting = too liquidy. Around 72-75ยฐF is ideal for perfect texture. If your frosting arrived in very hot or cold weather, wait until it returns to room temperature before opening.
Follow these and your frosting will be smooth, creamy, and delicious.
Our better-for-you frosting is made with coconut oil and palm fruit oil, which naturally firm up below 70ยฐF, and melt above 76ยฐF. If the frosting has been in a cold environment or in the fridge, it'll feel hard. Similarly, if it's been in a hot environment, it will be thinner in texture.
Depending on the temperature, your frosting may be perfect upon opening, or you may need to give it a stir. Use a butter knife or spoon and stir from the bottom up until it's smooth and creamy.
Spreading the frosting on warm cupcakes or cakes will cause the frosting to melt (which can actually be delicious, but only if that's what you're going for). For best results, let your baked goods cool completely to room temperature before spreading.
Apply a thin first layer (a "crumb coat"), then go back with a second layer for that bakery-quality look. If the frosting is pulling or tearing the cake, the frosting may need to be warmed slightly.
Store in a cool, dry place, like a cabinet or pantry. There is no refrigeration required. If you plan to keep an opened jar for more than a few weeks, refrigerating can help preserve the freshness of the flavor. If you do refrigerate, remember to always bring it back to room temperature before your next use. After opening, we recommend using the frosting within 4-6 weeks.
